ALBERT MASSANA MIRALLES
Architect, Designer & Construction Manager based in Barcelona
I’m Albert Massana, an architect and construction manager passionate about heritage, restoration, and Mediterranean design. After completing my Master’s in Architecture at UPC, I’ve continued to grow through projects that merge design sensitivity with construction precision.
One of the milestones in my career was working on the restoration of the rear façade of Casa Batlló, Gaudí’s World Heritage masterpiece in Barcelona. As part of the design and site team, I contributed to the recovery of this hidden gem, officially inaugurated in June 2025 — a project that balanced innovation, tradition, and deep respect for the original work.
Currently, I lead construction processes as Construction Manager at Betlinski, where I coordinate the development of a five-star 10,000sqm hotel in Portinatx, Ibiza, overseeing every phase from concept to execution.
My proficiency in tools like AutoCAD, Rhino, and Grasshopper allows me to translate complex ideas into buildable solutions — always seeking the perfect balance between beauty and function.

00 CASA BATLLO
Casa Batlló, World Heritage, is one of the most emblematic buildings of Barcelona, not only for its exceptional location on one of the main tourist and business areas, but also because it was designed by the architect Antoni Gaudí.
The House requires several new interventions ensuring the safe of users and highlighting the beauty of the house.
My mission is to help the development of these interventions in the quality of planimetry and 3D modeling, using rhino+grasshopper, and to coordinate with the different design offices that intervene in the house.

01 LA CASA ALMACENAJE
This work consists of adapting the essence of the case study, The Storage House by Shigeru Ban, to the conditions of the place, whose location inhabits the Fontana metro station, in Gran de Gràcia Street, Barcelona. The incorporation of a program facilitates the design, a total of 2000m2 and 72 users (according to temporality) with common and collective spaces.

03 SCENIC AND CULTURAL SPACE
In proximity to the Can Bagaria Factory, an industrial heritage building in Cornellá de Llobregat, a proposed addition aims to complement the complex with a symmetrical design, creating a public meeting space for the future. Using prefabricated scaffolding covered with cloth, it forms a closed prismatic volume with a gabled roof and exposed structure.

04 ÉS BRUTALISTA? ENTRE ARQUITECTURA I CONSTRUCCIÓ
The meaning of brutalism has been a subject widely discussed by sociologists, architectural theorists and urban planners and its definition has evolved over the years. However, it is detected that there is not a single agreed-upon definition of brutalism but different origins and starting points which will be crucial to understand their motivations when categorizing a brutalist work.

05 CAPAS, CAPAS Y MÁS CAPAS
The program proposes the transformation of the aquarama, thus preserving its time and fauna, into a new space where to live, where to work, in short... where to exist. The aquarium itself and the treatment of the environment is a fundamental issue, because it has marked different guidelines in the project:
A light and prefabricated structure (as far as possible) with the purpose of reducing noise towards animals and causing minimal earth movement. This will be in relation to that of the aquarium, because we preserve the rhythm of the structural pillars every 15º, and their accesses will be at the height established where they are planted.
